Can I Be Forgiven?

If you've read this far, you know that all of us have sinned, and that the penalty for sin is death, and that even one small sin is enough to send a person to Hell.

This is because God is altogether good and cannot tolerate even a tiny bit of sin.

It is up to God to ensure that perfect justice be rendered in all cases. When we die, we are judged by God. If we fall short of His perfect standard, we are doomed to an eternity in Hell, and rightly so.

So... is there any hope at all?

YES!

Fortunately, God loves us so much that He was willing to step into a human body and pay the price for our sins.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. [John 3:16]

One of the primary reasons that Jesus came into the world, was to save us from our sins:

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.  [1 Timothy 1:15]

When you think about it, it's pretty mind blowing that God, Himself, would step out of heaven, become a man, and pay the price for our sins by allowing Himself to be executed on the cross.

Jesus literally hung on a cross and suffered an excruciatingly painful death to pay the price for our sins.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [Romans 5:8]

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. . [Issiah 53:5]

By doing this, Jesus satisfied the judgement which hangs over our heads. If we only accept the gift of His death, then our debt has been paid and justice has been satisfied.

Jesus paid off our entire debt on the cross, and offers us complete forgiveness as a free gift:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Romans 6:23]

God made it very simple to accept this gift. All that is necessary is for us to place our faith in Jesus Christ, and confess Him as our Lord, we immediately receive a full pardon from our sins:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [Romans 10:9-10]
